Overview
The same NCLEX-RN examination is used for U.S. and Canadian entry to practice. The relevant state, provincial, territorial, or other nursing regulator determines eligibility and registration. The exam assesses safe, effective entry-level nursing judgment, including clinical decision-making and patient safety.
Australia has its own regulator and candidate pathway. Applicants must confirm current Ahpra and NMBA instructions rather than assuming every applicant follows an identical route.
Who it is for
Candidates aiming at a registered nurse licence in a jurisdiction that uses NCLEX-RN. You choose the licensing jurisdiction first. NCLEX test centres may be located in many countries, but a test-centre country is not automatically a country where the exam grants a nursing licence.
Typical assessment format
A computer-based exam of clinical judgment, including case-based questions. Use the current NCSBN test plan for the active blueprint. This page does not restate item counts, because those details change.

Questions
Is a test centre in my country a licence in my country?
No. Where you sit the exam and where you are licensed are different questions. The regulator you apply to decides the licence.
Is NCLEX-RN the same as NCLEX-PN?
No. They are not interchangeable. Confirm which exam the role requires.
